According to local accounts, the principal, Lal Chand Meena, had taken approximately 200 students from classes 9 through 12 through a forest route to the Bharaj dam on August 15, reports The Times of India. Villagers and local authorities noted that the area has a high safety risk profile, with an embankment width of only five to six feet and a history of fatal drownings. Residents alleged that the location had been prohibited for public visits for four years, and that the students - many of whom did not know how to swim - entered the water without life jackets or proper safety supervision. Furthermore, reports highlighted that no female teachers accompanied the girls on the trip.

He also said that the principal was seen bathing in the dam with girl students while wearing very few clothes. Police and Departmental Investigation
Local police arrived at the school premises on Saturday, August 22, to manage the protests, record initial statements, and secure the principal's statement. Authorities noted that while no formal written complaints had been filed immediately by students or parents, law enforcement proceeded with an inquiry based on the viral footage.
