Two things never stop coming for Virat Kohli, one is runs and the other is records. After enforcing a follow-on on South Africa in the third Test in Ranchi, the Indian captain Kohli surpassed Mohammad Azharuddin to enforce the most number of follow-ons on opposition among Indian skippers. After South Africa were bowled out for 162 runs in the first innings, India enforced follow-on the visitors. With this, the Indian team has enforced follow-ons 8 times under the leadership of Virat Kohli. Azhar, who lead India in 47 Tests, had enforced follow-on 7 times on opposition. Other inclusions in the lists are MS Dhoni (5) and Sourav Ganguly (4). Under Kohli, India team also enforced follow-on twice in a single home series since 1993/94. Then, India had enforced Sri Lanka follow-ons in two Tests matches in Lucknow and Bengaluru. Also, South Africa suffered a consecutive following-on in Tests earlier against Australia in 2001/02. Meanwhile in ongoing India vs South Africa 3rd Test, India smashed massive 497-9 (dec) in the first innings with the help of Rohit Sharma’s astonishing double century (212) and Ajinkya Rahane’s hundred (115). Ravindra Jadeja hit a half-century (51) to help India reach such a mammoth score. India lead the Test series 2-0 and are inching towards another victory in the third match.
