According to a report in The Indian Express, Kohli sought a break and informed the BCCI about the same. The report also quoted a BCCI source, who stated that Kohli will board the flight to New York on May 30 and the Indian cricket board has agreed to his request. Furthermore, not just Kohli but also Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson and Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya will also join the Indian team later. The second group of Indian cricketers will leave for the USA on Monday (May 27). India placed in Group A, start their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign against Ireland on June 5 before taking on Pakistan in a blockbuster showdown on June 9.
