Hailakandi (Assam) [India], October 7 (ANI): Assam police have seized 22 sacks of Burmese supari (betel nut) weighing approximately 1320 kg and 4 vehicles in Assam's Hailakandi district.

According to the Hailakandi district police, during patrolling, district police on Thursday night seized 1320 kg of Burmese supari (betel nut) from 3 auto rickshaws and one car.

"During night patrolling by Bilaipur police station police, three auto rickshaws and a car carrying sacks of Burmese Supari were detained. Total 22 sacks of Burmese supari weighing approximately 1320 kg and the four vehicles were seized," a senior police official said.

However, all the drivers of the vehicles had fled before police could check the vehicles and the hunt is on to nab the involved culprits, police said. (ANI)
