Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], August 2 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and workers in Himachal Pradesh have been actively involved in relief and rescue work since early Thursday after a cloudburst in the Rampur Bushahr area.

BJP state president Rajiv Bindal expressed sorrow over the recent disasters caused by cloudburst and also highlighted the swift response of BJP leaders and workers involved in relief and rescue operations.

BJP MLA Purna Chand Thakur promptly arrived on foot with his team and had been engaged in the ongoing relief work.

Thakur ensured communication with the administration about the four workers trapped in the Malana power project and coordinated efforts between the state and central governments for their rescue.

He said that the MLA from Anni, Lokendra Kumar, was the first to reach the disaster site at Bagipul, where eight houses were destroyed and seven people remain missing.

Kumar and his team later proceeded to another village, where five houses were washed away, and visited Samej village, where 36 people were still missing.

He said that BJP leader Kaul Negi was the first to arrive at Samej village, which witnessed the greatest loss of life and property.

Bindal said that former Minister Govind Thakur, along with Banjar MLA Surendra Shourie and their team, travelled from Manali to Kullu, Bhuntar, Manikaran, and Malana to assess the situation and aid in relief operations.

He further said, "I will personally reach Samej village by this afternoon via Rampur with a large team and will also visit the remaining affected areas of the Anni assembly constituency to devise a plan for on-the-spot assistance."

Bindal stated that State General Secretary Bihari Lal Sharma, MLA and State Spokesperson Balveer Verma, Anni MLA Lokendra Kumar, Karsog MLA Deepraj, Kaul Negi, and Ajay Shyam would join him. Bindal also emphasised the importance of community solidarity during such crises.

"Workers from Mandi will cooperate in Padhar and workers from Kullu district will cooperate in Manikaran Valley," he said, underscoring the coordinated effort to provide aid to the affected region. (ANI)
