Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 23 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday held a roadshow in favour of BJP candidate Arun Govil, evoking an overwhelming response.

He appealed to the people of Meerut to send Govil, who immortalised the character of Lord Ram through mega TV serial 'Ramayana' to Parliament.

In response, the voters of Meerut chanted 'Jai Shri Ram'.

The roadshow on Hanuman Jayanti also set a new record. Throughout the roadshow, people kept chanting "Jai Shri Ram" and "Ram Ji Ki Sena Chali".

The slogans of "Modi-Yogi Zindabad" and "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" also resonated the streets of Meerut.

Women, elders, men, youth, and children were eager to catch a glimpse of CM Yogi. People eagerly captured every moment of Yogi's roadshow on their mobile phones.

In addition, saffron and BJP flags were visible everywhere here. Children dressed in saffron clothes greeted CM Yogi to show their support.

The streets of Meerut were completely packed. Members of both the majority and minority communities enthusiastically welcomed the Chief Minister.

During the roadshow, BJP candidate Arun Govil from Meerut, Rajya Sabha MP Lakshmikant Bajpai, Member of Parliament Rajendra Agrawal from Meerut, and BJP's regional president Satyendra Sisodia were present

Meerut, which is one of the 80 Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, is set to go on polls in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections on April 26.

The Meerut Lok Sabha seat is likely to see a triangular contest among the BJP, the opposition INDIA bloc, and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

The BJP is relying on Arun Govil's popularity as the actor who portrayed Ram in the immensely popular "Ramayana" series, as well as his status as a local resident, for their campaign strategy. (ANI)
