India News | ED Files Prosecution Complaint Against Sakatar Singh, Others in Drug Trafficking Case

Jalandhar (Punjab) [India], July 18 (ANI): Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Jalandhar, has filed a Prosecution Complaint (PC) before the Hon'ble Special Court (PMLA), Jalandhar, against Sakatar Singh, his brother Makhan Singh and members of their families in a drug trafficking case.

As per the ED, the accused persons had amassed properties with proceeds of illegal dealing in narcotic substances.

"Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Jalandhar has filed a Prosecution Complaint (PC) before the Hon'ble Special Court (PMLA), Jalandhar against Sakatar Singh @Laddi his brother Makhan Singh and members of their families in a drug trafficking case. The accused persons had amassed properties with proceeds of illegal dealing in narcotic substances. The Hon'ble Court has taken cognizance of the PC on July 17, 2024," ED said in a statement.

ED initiated investigation on the basis of FIRs registered by Punjab Police and NCB. Thereafter, a search action under the provisions of PMLA, 2002 was conducted at 10 premises located in villages Sheron and Nausheran Pannuan in Tehsil Nausheran Pannuan and village Bugha in Tehsil Tarn Taran on February 3, 2023.

"Earlier on July 12, 2024, ED had provisionally attached immovable properties, bank balances and cash worth Rs. 3.91 Crore under the provisions of PMLA, 2002. ED had arrested Sakatar Singh @ Laddi on July 4, 2024, under the provisions of the PMLA, 2002 and presently in judicial custody," ED said.
