India News | Good Days Are Coming: Congress' Pawan Khera Takes Dig at PM Modi, Bhagwat on Retirement Age Remarks

New Delhi [India], July 11 (ANI): Congress leader Pawan Khera on Friday took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat after the latter's remarks concerning leaders stepping aside at the age of 75 to allow for fresh leadership.

Khera, in a self-made video that he posted on X, said that the country's good days are coming, as he claims that Mohan Bhagwat and PM Modi are leaving their offices, both of whom will be turning 75 later this year.

The remarks followed comments reportedly made in Nagpur at an event, where the RSS chief said that turning 75 means one should stop and make way for others.

"Mohan Bhagwat gave good news yesterday. He said that a person should give others a chance after turning 75 years of age. This is good news because Mohan Bhagwat is becoming 75 years of age on September 11 and Narendra Modi is also turning 75 on September 17," Khera said.

"The duo has affected the spirit of this country. Good times for the country will come and good times for the Indian constitution will come soon, as both are leaving," he added.

Earlier in the day, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat's remarks concerning leaders stepping aside at the age of 75 to allow for fresh leadership.

In a post on X, Ramesh, who is the General Secretary in charge of Communications for Congress, claimed that the RSS chief's remark is a veiled message to PM Modi, who will turn 75 later this year.

"Poor, award-winning Prime Minister! What a homecoming - reminded by the RSS chief upon return that he will turn 75 on September 17, 2025," Ramesh said.

"But the Prime Minister could also tell the RSS chief that he, too, will turn 75 on September 11, 2025! One arrow, two targets!" he added.

RSS chief's remark has prompted opposition politicians to question its implications for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who, like Bhagwat, turns 75 this September. (ANI)
