Ahmedabad, Mar 4 (PTI) As many as 480 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Gujarat, taking the tally to 2,71,725 on Thursday, while no new death related to the infection was reported, the health department said.

With the addition of 480 new cases, the state's COVID-19 tally rose to 2,71,725, while the death toll remained unchanged at 4,412 as no infected patient died during the last 24 hours, said a release by the health department.

With 369 more patients recovering during the day, the tally of discharged cases increased to 2,64,564, said the release.

Gujarat's rate of recovery rose to 97.36 per cent on Thursday, it said.

The number of active cases stood at 2,749, of which 40 patients are on ventilators, while 2,709 are stable, the release said.

Surat district registered 105 new COVID-19 cases, the highest in the state, followed by 101 in Ahmedabad, 93 in Vadodara and 54 in Rajkot, it said.

Meanwhile, as many as 11.09 lakh people have been given the first dose of COVID-19 vaccines and 2.45 lakh the second dose in Gujarat till date, said the release.

It said 1.01 lakh senior citizens aged 60 and above and those in the 45-59 age category with serious ailments have also been administered vaccines till now.

No new case was reported in the adjoining Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu in the last 24 hours.

Of the total 3,379 persons found positive for coronavirus in the territory since the outbreak, two have died, 3,372 recovered while five patients are under treatment, said a release by the UT administration.

Gujarat COVID-19 figures are as follows: Positive cases 2,71,725, new cases 480, deaths 4,412, discharged 2,64,564, active cases 2,749, and people tested so far (figures not released).
