Mumbai, Feb 28 (PTI) A message about "recruitment" in Railway Protection Force (RPF) triggered anxiety with Central Railway receiving several queries which turned out to be "fake".

"A fictitious message is being circulated on the website of 'RTUEXAM.NET' regarding the recruitment for 4,208 vacancies of constables and 452 sub-inspectors in Railway Protection Force," a CR release said on Wednesday.

Neither the RPF nor the Ministry of Railways has issued such a notification on their official websites or through any print or electronic media, it stated.

This message is "completely false and fake," the CR said and appealed to people not to fall prey to the fake news about the RPF recruitment.

"Refer to the official website of Indian Railways for any authentic information required," it stated.

An official said they received several calls about the "recruitment" drive.
