India News | Union Minister Darshana Jardosh Participates in 'Swachchta Hi Seva' Drive at Visakhapatnam Station

Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) [India], October 1 (ANI): Union minister of state for railways, Darshana Jardosh, who is on a three-day visit to Visakhapatnam, on Sunday participated in the 'Swachchta Hi Seva' program organized by Waltair Division at Visakhapatnam railway station. 

The theme of 'Swachhata Hi Seva'-2023 is ‘Garbage Free India’. The theme focuses on the visual cleanliness and welfare of SafaiMitras.

“Ek Tareekh, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign to celebrate nine Years of Swachh Bharat Mission was observed at the station under the guidance of  Union Minster Jardoshm, said officials. 

A '14 minute clean-up' miracle protocol was also observed in the train at the station.

Speaking to the media, Jardosh said that the Swachchta campaign is being observed by Railways from 15th September to 2nd October to spread awareness through community participation; to provide impetus to the implementation of the Swachh Bharat Mission; to reinforce the concept of Sanitation as everyone’s business; and as a prelude for the Swachh Bharat Diwas (2nd October) with nationwide participation. 

She took part in the intensive cleaning activity at the Visakhapatnam station circulating area, in the station, and on a train. 

Later the minister interacted with the Safai mitras and took feedback on their health & working and appreciated their role in keeping the station clean. 

She distributed carry bags made of clothes to the passengers at the station and asked them to take part in the Ban Plastic campaign and not to use plastic by any means. 

Further, she interacted with the Divisional Officials and GatiShakti unit officials to have comprehensive programs to curb the plastic menace and disposal of garbage. 

She also discussed the steps taken by the Division for effective solid waste management that is generated at the stations and in trains. She appreciated the efforts of the Division to make the station the cleanest in India. (ANI)
