Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh), September 7 (ANI): Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated the first Sainik School in Eastern Uttar Pradesh and the second managed by the Uttar Pradesh Sainik School Society, on Saturday.
The Sainik School inaugurated by Dhankhar in Gorakhpur is built on a 49-acre site and costs Rs 176.45 crore.
The Vice President, who is visiting Uttar Pradesh, was received by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at Gorakhpur Airport.
Vice President Dhankhar was accompanied by his wife, Dr. Sudesh Dhankhar. During the inauguration ceremony, they received the first guard of honour at the new Sainik School.
Also present at the event was Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Minister Gulab Devi.
Prior reports indicate that CM Adityanath had already overseen the preparations for the new school's inauguration before Dhankhar's arrival. (ANI)
