A 22-year-old man who fled nearly 1,200 kilometres to evade arrest after allegedly stabbing a teenager to death over suspicion of him having an affair with wife in Delhi's Kirti Nagar was apprehended from Bihar's Patna, an official said on Friday. According to police, the accused was identified as Sameer alias Laddu.

New Delhi, Jul 11 (PTI) A 22-year-old man who fled nearly 1,200 kilometres to evade arrest after allegedly stabbing a teenager to death over suspicion of him having an affair with wife in Delhi's Kirti Nagar was apprehended from Bihar's Patna, an official said on Friday. According to police, the accused was identified as Sameer alias Laddu.

"The incident took place on July 5, around 2.44 pm, when a PCR call was received regarding a stabbing near the railway line in Kamla Nehru Camp. Police rushed to the spot and found Noshad (19) with stab injuries. He was taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, where he died during treatment," Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vichitra Veer said.

Eyewitnesses at the scene told police that Sameer and Noshad lived in the same neighbourhood.

A case was registered under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Kirti Nagar police station and a special team was formed to nab the accused.

The DCP said, "Sameer was located in the Barh area of Patna and was apprehended after a brief chase when he tried to flee again." The police have recovered the weapon used in the crime.

Sameer has been brought to Delhi on transit remand, and further investigation is underway, he added.
