Muzaffarnagar (UP), Jul 11 (PTI) An elderly couple was found dead in its rented house in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar on Friday, police said.

The police suspect it to be a case of suicide by consuming poison due to financial problems.

New Mandi Station House Officer (SHO) Dinesh Chand Bhagel said the bodies of the victims -- Ashok Goel (65) and his wife Pushpa (63) -- have been sent for post-mortem examination, and an investigation into the matter is underway.

Police said that the couple was living alone in the house.
