Nagpur, Sep 30 (PTI) A 65-year-old woman was grievously injured in an attack allegedly by her kin for filing a complaint with a gram panchayat in Nagpur, a police official said on Saturday.
Accused Nitesh Narayan Dekate (30) had laid a rainwater drainage pipe which was leaking water into the property of victim Sushila Likhar, a vegetable vendor, leading to disputes between them, the official said.
"She had complained about the issue to the Dongargaon gram panchayat, which enraged Dekhate. On Friday morning, an inspection was carried out of the drainage pipe by officials. In the evening, he stabbed the elderly woman with a knife and slit her throat," he said.
"The woman is critical. Dekhate has been arrested for attempt to murder and other offences," the Hingna police station official added.
