Protesting the arrest of a Congress worker, party activists Tuesday ransacked Purighat police station here and staged a dharna blocking the Ring Road in front of the police station by burning tyres, police said.
Cuttack, Sep 11 (PTI) Protesting the arrest of a Congress worker, party activists Tuesday ransacked Purighat police station here and staged a dharna blocking the Ring Road in front of the police station by burning tyres, police said.
Cuttack City Congress chief Md Moqim who took part in the dharna, however, claimed that the police station was not ransacked.
City DCP Akhileswar Singh said action would be taken against those who damaged property and manhandled the policemen inside the police station. The face off between the police and the party began after the arrest of a Congress worker Monday night.
Police said he was arrested because of a non-bailable warrant pending against him, Moqim claimed it was vendetta by the police.
