New Delhi, Jul 2 (PTI) The transfer of Indian Deputy High Commissioner to the UK Dinesh Patnaik is of routine nature, official sources said today amid reports that he was recalled as part of punitive action.
"We have seen news reports regarding the transfer of Dinesh Patnaik, India's Deputy High Commissioner to the UK, back to Delhi. Pattnaik was transferred back to the headquarters as part of a routine administrative decision," said a source.
The source said, "Any suggestion to the contrary is completely false and baseless."
There was a media report that he was called back to the MEA headquarters here after it was found that he was responsible for the presence of the Hinduja brothers at an event attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to London in April.
The names of Hinduja brothers had cropped up during investigation into the Bofors scam.
