New Delhi, January 16 : The ongoing 16th edition of the Auto Expo has innumerable new cars and concepts on display for all the auto lovers and buyers of India. The Auto Expo 2023’s theme is sustainability, and hence there’s an added focus on greener car models this year by the auto majors.
While the spotlight at the auto Expo 2023 is definitely stollen by an array of new EVs and concept EV and FCV models, the humble CNG driven cars are not relegated to the background. Best CNG Powered Cars Showcased At Auto Expo 2023 :
Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG
Maruti Suzuki India showcased and unveiled a host of new cars among which was also the Brezza CNG version. The long speculated CNG avatar of the company’s very successful Brezza subcompact SUV was showcased and is currently on display at the Auto Expo 2023.
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG version is showcased in a cool matte blue paint job. The CNG avatar of the Brezza doesn’t get any design or feature update, apart from the CNG decals on its front as well as rear windshields.
Under the hood, the Brezza CNG will get powered by the 1.5-litre K15 petrol engine offering power figures of 102bhp and 137Nm in petrol mode, and 87bhp and 121Nm in CNG mode. The engine gets mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Although Maruti Suzuki hasn’t made any luanh date announcements, the Brezza CNG is expected to launch in India very soon. Tata Punch i-CNG
Tata Motors probably has the most extensive pavilion at the Auto Expo 2023, with multiple new unveils, showcases and new paint and sporty versions display of its cars. While the much anticipated Punch EV version was not unveiled at the ongoing car expo, the CNG version was unveiled.
The Tata Punch i-CNG model boasts of India’s first twin-cylinder technology, which means two cylinder tanks of CNG of 30 litres each. This technology enhances the space management in the cargo area of the CNG vehicle.
Under the hood, the Punch CNG gets powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine that offers while 85bhp and 113Nm in petrol mode, 72bhp and 95Nm of torque are expected in CNG mode going by the Tiago and Tigor CNG models. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
Tata Altroz i-CNG
Tata Motors also introduced CNG fuel option of its Altroz alongside the display of its sporty version – Altroz Racer. The Tata Altroz i-CNG essentially has the same powertrain and technology as that of the Punch i-CNG. Hence, it also gets the twin-cylinder technology and the 1.2-litre petrol engine.
Tata Motors has also added the premium feature of sunroof to both the Altroz and Punch, which also makes these due the only CNG cars in India to feature a sunroof. As per the reports, Tata Motors India will be officially launching the CNG avatars of the Punch and Altroz in the June-July period this year.
