Upon arrival at the Madurai omni bus stand at 11:45 p.m., he was summoned to the office room, where Rajasekar and his employees accused him of siphoning passenger money. They tied his hands to a window and beat him, demanding a confession. A video of the assault went viral on social media. Following Karuppiah's complaint, the Mattuthavani police booked Rajasekar and others on Wednesday.
