The Nizamabad district police have arrested a 32-year-old woman and two accomplices for allegedly murdering her husband by injecting toilet cleaner and sedatives through an intravenous cannula while he was recovering from a previous attempt on his life.

The victim, identified as 35-year-old D. Prashanth, had recently returned home on June 27 from a Gulf country where he worked as a laborer. The incident came to light after the victim’s mother filed a police complaint on July 1, expressing suspicions over her son’s sudden death on June 30.
According to the police, the murder was the result of a conspiracy hatched by Prashanth’s wife, Sandhya, and her paramour, M. Anil (35), who allegedly viewed Prashanth as an obstacle to their relationship. The duo reportedly enlisted the help of an acquaintance, Venkata Sai, to execute the crime. Investigators revealed that on June 29, Venkata Sai invited Prashanth out and allegedly induced him to consume a large quantity of alcohol. Sai then took Prashanth to the terrace of a building and pushed him off the first floor, acting on instructions received from Sandhya over the phone. Prashanth survived the fall with severe injuries and was initially rushed to a government hospital before being shifted to a private facility. He was discharged the following day and sent home with a medical cannula still attached to his arm for ongoing treatment. Fearing that Prashanth would expose the initial murder attempt, Sandhya—who works as a nurse—allegedly used the attached cannula to inject bathroom cleaning liquid and anesthesia drugs directly into his bloodstream on the night of June 30. Sandhya initially attempted to mislead family members by claiming her husband died naturally after falling from his bed. However, following a complaint by the deceased’s mother, police uncovered technical evidence that exposed the plot. All three accused—Sandhya, Anil, and Venkata Sai—have voluntarily confessed to their roles in the crime. They have been arrested and remanded to judicial custody as further investigation continues.
