New Delhi, May 18: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday wrote a letter to Cheif Election Officer (CEO) Lucknow against Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati for violating Model Code of Conduct (MCC). The saffron party has alleged that the 63-year-old leader posted tweets to influence voters after campaigning ended for the seventh phase, which is also the last phase, of 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. BJP Seeks Apology From Mayawati for Making Personal Attacks on Narendra Modi.

In a tweet, BSP President wished people on the occasion of Buddha Purnima and said that the country would crumble, the day people digress from the path shown by Lord Buddha of peace, compassion, non-violence and harmony. without targeting anybody, Mayawati asked politicians to follow the path of Lord Buddha. "Lord Buddha had shown the entire world about his peace and non-violence messages for mankind, which is certainly required in the present circumstances," she said.

In another tweet, she attacked BJP and wondered whether Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi, this time, is repeating the history of Rae-Bareli in 1977. "Gorakhpur had already rejected the CM once, will PM Narendra Modi meet the same fate and it could create another history if Varanasi goes like Rae Bareli of 1977'," she tweeted.

She also targeted PM Narendra Modi for failing to develop the state, end its poverty, and unemployment. "The double engine government of Modi and Yogi instead of development had triggered communal and caste frenzy, violence and hatred in the country, which is unfortunate," she alleged.

Meanwhile, in the final phase of elections on May 19, eight states will go into the poll. In Uttar Pradesh, Maharajganj, Gorakhpur, Kushi Nagar, Deoria, Bansgaon, Ghosi, Salempur, Ballia, Ghazipur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Mirzapur, and Robertsganj parliamentary constituencies will vote tomorrow. The results will be announced on May 23.
