After the match, Indian football team head coach Igor Stimac criticised the referees for awarding the penalties during the regulation time. India were ahead in the game twice, courtesy of goals from Naorem Mahesh Singh and Akash Mishra. However, Iraq equalised on both occasions by spot-kicks. The second spot-kick that was awarded seemed quite harsh on the Indian team and Stimac has taken to Twitter to slam the referees for the same. The head coach also stated that he is very proud of the fight shown by his team against Iraq.
