BAN Win By 8 Runs | Bangladesh vs Afghanistan Asia Cup 2025 Highlights: Tanzid Hasan Tamim Shines, Nasum Ahmed Leads Stellar Bowler Effort as Bangladesh Keep Super 4 Hopes Alive

Bangladesh have defeated Afghanistan and they have kept their Super 4 hopes alive with this victory! What a win this has been on the back of a spectacular bowling effort from Bangladesh! Afghanistan would be disappointed as they fail to chase down what seemed like a gettable total on this track! This has been another thriller after the Sri Lanka vs Hong Kong China game and up until Azmatullah Omarzai was at the crease. But after he and Rashid Khan departed, Afghanistan lost all hope. Noor Ahmad tried hard with a couple of lusty blows in the end but Bangladesh eventually came out on top. Earlier Tanzid Hasan Tamim hit 52 runs as Bangladesh got to 154/5. For Afghanistan, Rashid Khan (2/26) and Noor Ahmad (2/23) were the best bowlers. Bangladesh got off to a sensational start as Nasum Ahmed took a wicket off the first ball of the innings. He ended up conceding just 11 runs off his four overs while taking two wickets. Taskin Ahmed also took two wickets (2/34) and Rishad Hossain (2/18) scalped two as well. Mustafizur Rahman was the best bowler for Bangladesh with figures of 3/28. Afghanistan's best batter was Azmatullah Omarzai who tried hard, hitting 30 runs off 16 balls while Rashid Khan got 20 off 11. Bangladesh go to the second spot in Group B behind Sri Lanka with this win and all eyes are on the SL vs AFG match on September 18 now. Bangladesh would want Sri Lanka to beat Afghanistan while a win for Rashid Khan and co might be enough as they have a superior NRR (Net Run Rate) as compared to Bangladesh! Rashid Khan has gotten off to a quickfire start in this nervy run chase with 14 runs off seven balls! Afghanistan need 31 runs off 18 balls! 

OUT! A big, big wicket for Bangladesh as Taskin Ahmed dismisses Azmatullah Omarzai! The right-hander smashed a massive six on the previous delivery but failed to judge the slower one this time around. He miscued the shot and Saif Hassan took a good catch. Azmatullah Omarzai holds the key for Afghanistan here with 53 runs needed off 30 balls here. Bangladesh on the other hand, would be keen to see his back as soon as possible. 

OUT! Mustafizur Rahman has struck and dismissed Mohammad Nabi! Bangladesh in total control here and Afghanistan continue to slide into further trouble. After not being able to make the most of the first five balls, Mohammad Nabi attempted to guide the ball to third man region and got an inside-edge onto the stumps. So 10 overs are done and Bangladesh are in control, with Afghanistan scoring 61 runs. For Bangladesh, the key is to put more pressure on the batters which will bring wickets while Rahmanullah Gurbaz is important for Afghanistan here.

OUT! Rishad Hossain has struck and he has ended the partnership between Gulbadin Naib and Rahmanullah Gurbaz, which looked promising. What a powerplay it has been for Bangladesh! And Nasum Ahmed has been the star, with three overs where he took two wickets and gave just seven runs. It has been a fine start and now the pressure is on Afghanistan with Gulbadin Naib and Rahmanullah Gurbaz at  the crease.

OUT! Nasum Ahmed gets another wicket and it is Ibrahim Zadran who has to depart! He was struck on his pads and the umpire raised his finger instantly. Rahmanullah Gurbaz is slowly starting to find his feet here as he is leading the fightback for his team. 

Bangladesh have had a good start with the ball with Afghanistan managing just three runs off the first two overs. Bangladesh need to put more pressure and take wickets as well in a bid to have a shot at winning this. Meanwhile, Rishad Hossain dropped a straight-forward catch to dismiss Rahmanullah Gurbaz.

Bangladesh finish with 154/5, which might not be enough for Litton Das and co. After a solid start by the openers, no one really chipped in and made a big impact. Tanzid Hasan Tamim was the standout batter among the others for Bangladesh and with him at the crease, Bangladesh could have gotten a total in the region of 160-170. But after his departure, Bangladesh could not take the attack to the Afghanistan bowlers, especially the spinners. Noor Ahmad was Afghanistan's best bowler with figures of 2/23 while captain Rashid Khan also got two (2/26). Azmatullah Omarzai was the other wicket-taker.
