England vs India Highlights And Cricket Score 3rd Match - T20I Summary

End of Over : 18.4 IND: 201/3

So, India landed the first punch in Manchester, England returned a mild one back in Cardiff and then the Men in Blue delivered the knockout blow here in Bristol. They take the 3-match T20I series 2-1 and will be full of confidence heading into the ODI series. First match is on the 12th of July in Nottingham at 12.30 pm local (11.30 am GMT). Don't forget to join us. Until then, it's goodbye and cheers!

India captain, Virat Kohli says that the comeback from the bowlers was outstanding. Feels that a score of 225-230 was on the cards but he credits his bowlers for restricting them to much less. States that his bowlers have good skills and they executed their plans to perfection. Adds that he is proud of his boys. Informs that Pandya is a very confident cricketer - both with bat and ball. Opines that the way he came back after being hit for 22 in the first over is what you want to see as a captain. Adds that getting 33 in quick time was the icing on the cake. Backs his decision to not play Kuldeep Yadav as he feels that every bowler suffered here. Announces that they want to continue trying different things going ahead. Expresses that it is great to have a series win at the start of the tour and they will be aiming to build upon this.

England captain, Eoin Morgan says that it was a tremendous start with the bat. Appreciates Roy and Buttler for setting a great platform but rues the fact that the following batsmen couldn't capitalize. Credits India for bowling well. Opines that they were below par on a ground where the pitch is flat and the boundaries are short. Adds that it was a tough ground to defend on. Feels that teams like India and Pakistan have a huge fan following and they are used to it. Mentions that this series has had three different tests for them. Reckons that Trent Bridge has been a good ground for them. Informs that they have lost a few tosses there in the recent past but the result has gone their way. Ends by saying that the toss will be less important.

Man of the Match and Man of the Series, Rohit Sharma says that assessing the conditions at the start was important. Mentions that once they saw off the new ball, they knew that the wicket was good and the boundaries were small. States that when he bats, he likes to take his time and not panic too much. Stresses the importance of spending time in the middle as it helps him to make up anytime during the innings. Also adds that it is crucial to assess the bowlers. Praises Hardik Pandya for his batting skills. Adds that he has played some good knocks for a few years now. Also credits him for his bowling and feels that he is a fearless individual.

When Hardik Pandya arrived at the crease, the tourists needed 48 off 31 balls. With Rohit Sharma at the other end batting on 83, the ball was still firmly in India's court. A quiet over followed after Kohli's wicket but that didn't disturb India's progress much. Jake Ball went for 15 runs in the 17th over and that opened the floodgates. The Sharma-Pandya combo hammered the required runs with ease and achieved the target with 8 balls to spare. It was that kind of a day when you are not supposed to talk too much about the bowling, unless the bowler's name is Hardik Pandya. He also started on a wrong note by conceding 22 in his first over but then in the next three overs he picked 4 wickets by giving away only 16 runs. The Indian all-rounder has warmed up well for this tour.

198 on any ground is a challenging total, even a match-winning one, but not here in Bristol where the boundaries are on the shorter side. India lost a couple of wickets inside the Powerplay but never compromised on the asking run-rate. Rohit Sharma held one end with all the class and elegance and along with his skipper Virat Kohli, he raised an 89-run stand off just 57 balls. England did manage to remove Kohli from the crease but failed to create a big enough opening to trouble the visiting team.

Where England lost the match? Umm... From 103/1 in 9.1 overs to 198/9 in 20 overs. They fell short of a challenging total in spite of having a strong launching pad. Reminds me of a phrase - When you aim high, you set yourself up to fall far! The approach while batting for the Englishmen was to keep going for runs even if wickets were falling. Cannot fault them for doing so on a stamp size ground but then they should have planned it in a better manner. Also, one should give credit where it's due. The Indian bowlers who were under the cosh after taking a hammering showed a lot of character by bouncing back.

Emphatic win for India! Rohit Sharma was the architect of it as he stroked a magnificent century. Not to forget Hardik Pandya though. First he did it with the ball by picking a 4-fer and then played a nice cameo to make India's path smooth to a series win. Clinical stuff from the Men in Blue.

18.4 6

Chris Jordan to Hardik Pandya. SIX! Pandya has nailed it! Jordan serves a slower delivery again but lands it right in the hitting zone of Hardik Pandya. He just swings his bat and dismisses it over long on for a biggie. A 50-run stand in only 23 balls. INDIA WIN BY 7 WICKETS AND TAKE THE SERIES 2-1!

18.3 0

Chris Jordan to Hardik Pandya. Slower in pace and outside off, punched down to covers.

18.2 1

Chris Jordan to Rohit Sharma. HUNDRED FOR ROHIT SHARMA! His third in this format, only Colin Munro has these many in T20Is. A nice little dab to third man for a single to reach there. The Indian dugout is on its feet. Yet another scintillating knock by the Hitman!

18.1 4

Chris Jordan to Rohit Sharma. FOUR! What a hit! An overpitched delivery outside off, Rohit takes the aerial route and drills it over covers for a boundary. Moves to 99!

End of Over : 18 20 Runs 18.4: 190/3
17.6 4

David Willey to Hardik Pandya. FOUR! Width on offer outside off, Pandya stays back and just dabs it down to third man for a boundary. 20 from the over. India within a striking distance. Rohit also only 5 away from a century. 9 needed more for a win.

17.5 4

David Willey to Hardik Pandya. FOUR! A full toss this time, Pandya latches onto it and throws his bat at it. His bottom hand comes off the handle but he still manages to tonk it from the middle. It flies over cover-point and beats the dive of Stokes in the deep.

17.4 6

David Willey to Hardik Pandya. SIX! Into the crowd! This guy has all the range when it comes to playing big shots. Willey delivers it full and around off, Hardik gives it the full whack of his bat and sends it whistling over extra cover for a maximum.

17.3 1

David Willey to Rohit Sharma. It's been driven superbly through the covers. They pick up a single.

17.2 4

David Willey to Rohit Sharma. FOUR! Wonderful shot! Uses his crease superbly. It's fuller in length around off, Rohit shuffles across a bit and paddles it over backward square leg for a boundary. Nearly went all the way.

17.1 1

David Willey to Hardik Pandya. Fullish and outside off, driven through covers for a single.

End of Over : 17 15 Runs 18.4: 170/3
16.6 1

Jake Ball to Hardik Pandya. Yorker outside off, dug out to third man for a run. 15 from the over. All the good work done in the previous two overs (where only 7 runs came) has gone down the drain.

16.5 1

Jake Ball to Rohit Sharma. The batsman guides it to third man. They pick up a single.

16.4 4

Jake Ball to Rohit Sharma. FOUR! Third boundary of the over. Short in length around off, Sharma pulls it off his front foot and places it nicely. Bisects the square leg fielder and the mid-wicket fielder to send it to the fence.

Summary

The third and final T20 International between India and England takes place at the County Ground in Bristol. The IND vs ENG 3rd T201 2018 will begin at 06:30 PM IST, with toss at 06:00 PM. India take on England during a full-fledged tour this summer. The Virat Kohli-led India will be in England for three T20 Internationals, three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and five Test matches. India’s tour of England 2018 kicks-off with T20I series on July 03. The second and third T20Is will be played on July 06 and 07 respectively. Following the T20Is, the three-match ODI series begins on July 12 with subsequent matches on July 14 and 17.

The important part of India’s tour of England, five Tests, begins on August 01. And the Tests series ends with fifth and final Test on September 07. So, on a challenging England tour, India will be tested across formats.

The last time India toured England four years ago in 2014, the visitors lost the five-match series 3-1. However, the then MS Dhoni-led side did well to win the five-match ODI series 3-1. But lost the one-off T20I on the tour. It was India’s performance in the Tests that had them face some serious criticism. Star India batsman and now the captain of the side Virat Kohli managed only 134 runs from five matches and averaged just 13.40. Kohli has improved a lot since then with some good performances in Australia and South Africa. The right-hander, known for his determination, will be keen to dish out a solid performance this time around.

India and England have played 57 Tests in England. No surprises that the home team has won the majority, 30, of them. India have managed to win just six while 21 Tests between these two teams have ended in draws. When it comes to India vs England in ODIs in England, the home side have won 19 out of 38 matches. India, on the other hand, have won 15. In the game’s shortest format, India have lost all three T20Is so far against England in England.
