Special Public Prosecutor Sankar Lodh provided details of the case, saying, "Raju Barman was arrested from Guwahati two days ago. He was produced before the local magistrate for a transit remand, which was granted with the condition that he be brought before the Tripura court by July 12. Following this, he was presented before the Chief Judicial Magistrate of West Tripura, where the court granted an eight-day police custody. The police had requested 10-day custody, while the defence sought bail."

Lodh explained the background of the case. "The accused, in a pre-planned scheme, killed Vicky alias Durga Prasanna Deb to establish his control over the Bharat Ratna Sangha Club," he said.

Barman was extradited to Tripura under tight security, and a police team transported him from the airport to Agartala as part of a significant development in the case. The Crime Branch of the state police had captured Barman in Assam's Kamrup district, specifically from Chatabar village under Bakul police station's jurisdiction.

Vicky's wife expressed her demand for justice, saying, "I want a death penalty for Raju Barman. He had previously threatened us with guns, and if released, he would likely kill again. I urge the government to ensure that he and his accomplices receive the harshest punishment." (ANI)
