Ahmedabad, Oct 31 (PTI) Ahmedabad district's COVID-19 tally rose to 42,514 with the addition of 178 new cases, while 225 people were discharged and two succumbed to the infection on Saturday, a health official said.

The number of people who have recovered stands at 37,308 while the death toll is 1,917, he said.

"In Ahmedabad city, there were 166 new cases while 212 people recovered, while these figures for the rural parts were 12 and 13 respectively. The city's western zone has 453 active cases, the highest among seven zones, followed by north-west with 449. Central zone has the lowest at 313," he said.

Micro containment zones under Ahmedabad municipal corporation limits are 91, after 11 such areas were removed from the list and six added.
