New Delhi [India], September 5 (ANI): The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) claimed to have intercepted two passengers carrying diamonds weighing about 163 grams worth Rs 60 lakh at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, officials said.

The CISF personnel detected diamonds weighing about 80 grams in various sizes concealed in the waist belt of a passenger during pre-embarkation security checks at Terminal 3 on September 4 at 6 am, a statement released by the CISF on Thursday said.

The passenger was later identified as Jitendra Farsio, an Indian national, bound for Istanbul on a Turkish Airlines flight.

"The matter was informed to senior officers of CISF and customs officials. On thorough checking of his mobile phone and tactfully questioning the passenger, it was revealed that his accomplice M Anuj Patil Bhagwan (Indian), who was also travelling by the same flight, was also carrying loose diamonds. With the help of CCTV footage, the passengers were located and intercepted. On thorough checking of his handbag, diamonds in various sizes weighing about 83 gms were detected," the statement said.

"Later, both the passengers, along with recovered diamonds weighing about 163 grams, worth approximately Rs 60 lakh were handed over to customs officials for further action in the matter," it added. (ANI)
