Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], August 16 (ANI): A meeting of the district secretaries of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) was held at the party headquarters in Tamil Nadu's Chennai on Friday.

According to party sources, party leaders addressed key issues and set the agenda for the local body as well as the state assembly elections slated to be held in 2026.

The meeting chaired by DMK President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin passed three major resolutions including a commendation for the central government on the issuance of a Rs 100 Karunanidhi centenary coin. The party also condemned the central for neglecting Tamil Nadu in the Union Budget and for alleged discrimination against the state's railway schemes.

A resolution focused on the upcoming 'Mupperum Vizha,' a grand celebration marking the DMK's Platinum Jubilee was also passed in the meeting and also the party's win in the general elections under the leadership of MK Stalin.

The third resolution addressed concerns about the Union Government's treatment of Tamil Nadu. The DMK condemned the central administration for its perceived neglect of the Union Budget and its discriminatory approach towards railway infrastructure projects in the state. The party argued that Tamil Nadu has been unfairly treated compared to other regions, which has affected its development.

DMK General Secretary Duraimurugan also used the occasion to release MK Stalin's latest book, titled 'Parliamentary Election 2024: 40/40 Verdict of the South' which was received by DMK Treasurer and MP TR Baalu.

Speaking on occasion, MK Stalin emphasized the need for continued political engagement and preparation for future elections. He urged party members to focus on highlighting their achievements and addressing criticisms effectively. Stalin also highlighted the importance of fieldwork to convert government schemes into electoral support.

"We should work for the next two years by keeping elections in our mind. With replying to criticism we also should canvass our achievements among people. Our fieldwork is very important to convert the all people schemes into votes," Stalin said.

Despite his travel schedule, Stalin assured that he would oversee preparations for the 'Mupperum Vizha' and stay involved in all critical decisions.

"I am leaving for the United States on August 27 night to attract investments. As per the resolution works are to be finished for 'Mupperum Vizha'. Even though I am in the United States I would be inspecting everything," MK Stalin said. (ANI)
