Latur, Feb 24 (PTI) A 60-year-old farmer was electrocuted on Friday while trying to extinguish a fire in Latur in Maharashtra, a police official said.

The incident took place in Moratawadi in Udgir tehsil at 5am and the deceased has been identified as Ramrao Peddewad, said assistant inspector Naushad Pathan.

"He had gone to his farm plot to water his sugarcane crop. He saw a small fire in the thicket and was in the process of extinguishing it when he stepped on a live wire. He died on the spot. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son," he said. PTI COR
