New Delhi, Oct 18 (PTI) The Congress on Wednesday slammed the Centre over "skyrocketing prices" of commodities most needed during the festive season and alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had "completely failed" in controlling inflation.

In a post in Hindi on X, Ramesh shared a media report on rising price of wheat and said that despite playing with statistics, the "news of Modi-made inflation" is coming every day.

"During the festive season, the prices of commodities which are needed the most are skyrocketing. There is also a possibility of further increase in prices," he claimed.

"The prime minister has completely failed in controlling inflation during his tenure. People are now going to send him in retirement. Only then will the people of the country get relief from inflation," Ramesh said.

The Congress has been attacking the government over its handling of the economy and raising concerns over "increasing" unemployment and price rise.

The opposition party on Tuesday had hit out at the Centre over "skyrocketing" prices of essential items, claiming that it has made the lives of poor and middle-class families miserable but Prime Minister Modi was "not worried about it".
