India News | Railway Ministry Appoints General Managers of South Central, Western Zones

Get latest articles and stories on India at LatestLY. The Ministry of Railways on Friday appointed Sanjay Kumar Srivastava and Vivek Kumar Gupta as general managers of the South Central and Western zones, respectively.

New Delhi, Jul 11 (PTI) The Ministry of Railways on Friday appointed Sanjay Kumar Srivastava and Vivek Kumar Gupta as general managers of the South Central and Western zones, respectively.

"The President is pleased to approve the appointment of Sanjay Kumar Srivastava IRMS (Indian Railways Management Service), presently working as General Manager, CORE (Central Organisation for Railway Electrification), as General Manager, South Central Railway with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post," read an order of the ministry.

"Dates on which Sanjay Kumar Srivastava relinquishes or assumes charge may be advised," it read.

A similar order announced the appointment of Vivek Kumar Gupta, "presently working as Managing Director, National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), as General Manager, Western Railway ... by curtailing his tenure as MD, NHSRCL."

The general managers of these two zones superannuated on June 30, 2025.

A few days before their retirement on June 27, 2025, the railway ministry had issued orders assigning the additional charge of Western zone to general manager of Central zone, and the charge of South Central zone to the general manager of South Coast zone, for a duration of three months.
