Khunti (Jharkhand), Sep 11 (PTI) A Maoist carrying Rs 2 lakh reward on his head Tuesday surrendered before senior Jharkhand police officials here in the district, police said in a statement.
Mahendra Munda alias Ritesh Munda, the self-styled area commander of the banned CPI (Maoist)'s Silli-Kasmar sub-zone in Ranchi district, turned in before Deputy Inspector General of Police A V Homkar, Khunti Superintendent of Police Aswini Kumar Sinha and other police officials.
He joined the proscribed outfit in 2011 and is facing cases in Khunti and Saraikela-Kharsawan districts, the statement said.
During questioning, Munda said the left-wing extremist outfit deviated from its principles and he was frustrated at its wrong policies.
