Abhishek Varman's directorial venture Kalank may have gotten off to a record-breaking start at the Indian box office but the film is currently struggling to stay afloat at the ticket windows. The love saga, which stars Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in the lead along with few more prominent faces, released last week on April 17 and took the biggest opening of 2019. However, Karan Johar's production venture failed to hold up well at the box office thereafter. Over the five-day extended weekend, Kalank only managed to rake in Rs 66.03 crore. And then on Monday, the collections dipped further and now the magnum opus is really finding it tough to draw the audience to the cinema halls. Kalank Box Office Collection Day 5: Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt's Film Fares Below Average in the Extended Opening Weekend, Rakes in Rs 66.03 Crore

According to trade portal Boxofficeindia.com, Kalank clocked in another Rs 3.50 crore on Monday which is way too less considering the film has been mostly doing two-digit figures till now. The Boxofficeindia.com report also stated, "The collections dropped all over and the places that did better over the five days were showing the same drop as the places that did poor business. The film again shows how fast collections can come down for a big film when it is rejected though Kalank can't be called as a real big film like the ones that came down fast last year."

While the multi-starrer could end its week 1 around Rs 75 to 80 crore, things will really down post-Friday as Hollywood biggie Avengers: Endgame is set to hit the theatres. The superhero flick is one of the biggest releases of this year not just in India but across many countries and it will definitely storm the box office from day 1. Kalank Box Office Collection Day 4: Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt's Film Witnesses a Dip, Earns Rs 54.40 Crore

So chances are pretty high that the collections of Kalank will only go down after Endgame arrives in cinema halls this week. Apart from Varun and Alia, Varman's film also features Madhuri Dixit Nene, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Kunal Kemmu.
