Guwahati, December 28: Former Bharatiya Janata Party President of Assam, Indramani Bora passed away at his residence in Guwahati on Saturday. He died at the age of 81-year-old. Bora was a member of Rajya Sabha from Assam. Bora was elected as BJP president of Assam unit in Guwahati on October 19, 2003. He was survived by his two daughters and a son. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan condoled the death of former Assam BJP chief. "Saddened to learn about the demise of former @BJP4Assam President & Rajya Sabha MP Shri Indramani Bora Ji. His efforts for the development of Assam at grassroot levels and in uplifting the ideologies of @BJP4India are invaluable. May his soul rest in eternal peace. #IndramaniBora," he said in a tweet.

Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal also condoled Bora's demise. "Saddened to learn about the death of former @BJP4Assampresident & RS MP Indramoni Bora. His demise is great loss for @BJP4India family. His role in strengthening the party under stalwarts Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji & Lal Krishna Advani ji is invaluable. My heartfelt condolences,” Sonowal said.

"I am deeply saddened by the death of former state BJP president Indramani Bora. He has been instrumental in taking the BJP party of the state to great heights. His death is an irreplaceable loss for the party. May his soul rest in peace," tweeted Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
