New Delhi, October 3: The International Court of Justice is scheduled to take up the case of Kulbhushan Jadhav, former Indian naval officer jailed in Pakistan, for hearing between February 18-21 next year.

"The hearings will be streamed live and on demand (VOD) in English and French on the Court's website as well as on UN Web TV, the United Nations online television channel," said the press release issued by the ICJ. Kulbhushan Jadhav Case: Pakistan Foreign Minister Says ‘Have Solid Evidence, Will Win Case at ICJ’.

Kulbhushan, 47, was sentenced to death by a Pakistan military court in April 2017 -- over a year after taking him into custody. He was convicted of abetting subversive movements in Balochistan and Sindh, along with coordinating a spree of insurgent attacks against the Pakistani forces in the region.

His execution verdict sparked a row in India, with New Delhi reaching out to the ICJ seeking intervention. According to the Indian counsel, Kulbhushan was kidnapped by the Inter-State Intelligence (ISI) from Iran's Chabahar port.

India further claimed that Kulbhushan was working on his personal business in Iran, and had no connection with the Indian security establishment following his retirement six years ago.

New Delhi's plea was admitted and upheld by the world court, which asked Pakistan to stay Kulbhushan's execution till it issues the final order in the case.

Senior advocate Harish Salve, who argued for Kulbhushan at The Hague, said the trial conducted by Pakistan was "deceptive" as the accused was not allowed consular access.
