Mumbai, March 14: In yet another setback to India's bid to designate Pakistan-based terror group, Jaish-e-Mohammed's chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist, China on Wednesday put a technical hold on a proposal in the UN Security Council to ban him following the Pulwama terror attack. The proposal to designate Azhar under the 1267 Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee of the UN Security Council was moved by France, the UK and the US on February 27.
The Centre on Wednesday submitted an affidavit before the Supreme Court, stating that the review petition filed against the top court's December-verdict which ruled out a probe into the Rafale deal, includes secret documents which "jeopardise national security". The affidavit further urges the apex court to dismiss the review plea as it based on "stolen" documents.
Releasing its second list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019, the Congress named its nominees from 21 constituencies. Among those fielded by the party, include former MP Priya Dutt, Uttar Pradesh unit chief Raj Babbar, ex-Union ministers Sriprakash Jaiswal and Sushil Kumar Shinde.
