New Delhi, March 7: In its final cabinet meeting before the Lok Sabha elections, the Modi government took a slew of decisions on Thursday. The government approved additional funds to sugar mills, recommendations on Thermal Power Projects, Delhi Metro's phase 4 project and cleared the ordinance on reservation mechanism for faculties in universities.
The Cabinet Committee on Finance gave its approval for funds amounting to Rs 2790 crore to sugar mills. It also approved recommendations of the Group of Ministers (GoM) relating to issues of stressed Thermal Power Projects. The cabinet cleared an ordinance to restore the 200-point roster system of reservation mechanism for faculties in universities. Ordinance to Restore SC/ST Faculty Quota in Universities Approved.
The Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Teachers’ Cadre) Ordinance, 2019 will replace the new 13-point roster system under which each department is taken as a unit for implementing recruitment and reservation policy for teachers. Under the earlier system, the entire university was taken as a unit for reservation and recruitment.
The CCE approved the investment sanction for construction of Kiru Hydro Electric (HE) Project (624 MW) by Chenab Valley Power Projects Private Limited in Jammu and Kashmir. The foundation stone of the project was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 3.
