Dehradun, June 13: Heavy rainfall in Uttrakhand created havoc and threw normal life out of gear on Tuesday. The hill state's Ghansali area near New Tehri witnessed extremely heavy rainfall which blocked motorway near Chamiyala Lata. Reports inform that Public Works Department is trying to clear the route.

The heavy rain has also water-logging in several parts of Chamiyala Village posing threat to houses and farmlands. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Centre Dehradun has issued a weather warning from June 13-17. In its warning, the weather agency has predicted light to moderate rain across the state. A thunderstorm may likely occur at a few places in the state on Thursday and many places of the state from 15-17 June.

According to weather department, thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds and lightning very likely at isolated places over east Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir in the next few days.

Earlier this month, a girl went missing while two children were rescued in Uttarkashi district after they were swept away by a severe hailstorm. The hailstorm was also coupled with heavy rains and flash floods.  According to a PTI report, the hailstorm killed four animals in Pauri district while in Dehradun, it uprooted several trees which fell on electric poles disrupting power supply in the city for hours.
