Many, including the commentators, were left perplexed and puzzled after the umpire decided to award a six to Bangladesh's Shoriful Islam despite Dushan Hemantha throwing the ball back in to save the runs. Islam went for a slog during the Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh match and Hematha, fielding in the deep, jumped in time and threw the ball back in. But the umpire still chose to give it a six. While the decision was a bit puzzling initially, it was later justified. A video of the effort showed Hemantha touching the boundary cushion before launching his jump and hence, it was awarded as six runs.
