The Indian national team's coach, Igor Stimac, hopes to lead his squad to the same extraordinary heights as the Croatian national team attained in the previous two World Cups. The Croatian took to social media to share pictures with the Ballon d'Or winner.

The France defender, who was under contract to City until July 1, is accused of the attempted rape of woman A, aged 29 at the time, at his Cheshire home in October 2018. He is also accused of raping woman B, aged 24 at the time, at his home two years later.

Mendy's co-accused, Louis Saha Matturie, has been found not guilty of three charges. He faces a possible retrial on six charges.

In August 2021, Manchester City suspended Mendy after he was charged with sexual offences. In May 2022, he pleaded not guilty to charges of rape, sexual assault and one of attempted rape.

The Premier League player, whose name is yet to revealed by the Police, was arrested on the suspicion of rape and assault on a woman earlier this month. His club has said that they will not suspend their player due to rape allegations.

Benjamin Mendy has been charged with a new count of rape. The Manchester City man has now been accused by seven women and the trial will begin in July.

The 27-year-old Mendy appeared for a brief hearing in February, where the judge Mr Justice Thompson set the trial date. Mendy is yet to enter a plea to the charges. Then, Judge Thompson urged lawyers to ensure there is no delay. Mendy is accused of nine offences relating to six alleged victims. They include seven counts of rape relating to four women, one of sexual assault and one of attempted rape.

Judge Thompson granted Mendy bail until January 24, the date of his next court hearing. The full bail conditions were not given in open court, but the footballer was told he must live at his home address, not to contact the complainant and surrender his passport by midnight on Friday.

The left-back was earlier arrested in August this year for a series of sexual offences on women. Mendy was subsequently suspended by his club and he has remained in custody since his arrest.

The offenses were reportedly committed on four women above 16 years of age and they have said to happened from October 2020. Mendy has been summonsed to appear at the Stockport Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
