Election Rules Amended Before Bihar Polls, Voters Aged 65+ Or Hit By COVID-19 Can Use Postal Ballot
Ministry of Law & Justice on July 2 issued a notice to approve the amendments suggested by the Election Commission to the current set of voting rules. EC amendments allow usage of postal ballots by voters aged above 65 years or those hit by COVID-19. Move comes ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar, where the tenure of incumbent legislature is scheduled to expire on November 29. The facility would be extended to registered voters who would be placed under home or institutional quarantine after testing coronavirus positive.
