Thakurnagar [West Bengal], Feb 2 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Matua Community's 'boro maa' (elder mother) Binapani Devi Thakur in Thakurnagar on Saturday.PM Modi met Matua Community's 'Boro-Maa' before addressing the Thakurnagar rally in West Bengal.The Prime Minister touched Matua Community's 'Boro-Maa' Binapani Devi's feet and also inquired about her health.Binapani Devi s a widow of the founder of Matua Mahasangh Harichand Thakur. She is popularly known as 'Boro-Maa'. Thakurnagar village has sizeable Matua community, which originally is from erstwhile East Pakistan and began migrating to West Bengal in the beginning of the 1950s mostly due to religious persecution.Matuas with an estimated population of 30 lakh in West Bengal has influence in at least five Lok Sabha seats in North and South 24 Parganas districts of the state.
