Satara (Maharashtra) [India], September 12 (ANI): As many as 20 people have been arrested in connection to the clash that broke out between two groups in Maharashtra's Satara district over a social media post, state minister Shambhuraj Desai said on Tuesday. 

A man was killed while nine others were injured after a clash erupted in Satara's Pusesawali village, late on Sunday night, following an objectionable social media post.

Minister Desai said that 20 people have been arrested and the situation is peaceful now. 

"There is peace in Satara district now, we took immediate action against the unpleasant incident that happened here. A team of police officers reached the spot and prevented the further loss that could have happened," he said.

Desai said that a case has been registered while a manhunt has been launched to arrest the remaining.

"The cybercrime team is looking into the social media post that incited violence and action will be taken," the minister added. 

Earlier on Monday, Sunil Phulari, Special Inspector-General of Police (Kolhapur Range) said, "The incident occurred in Pusesawali village in Khatao tehsil on Sunday night, resulting in one person being dead and nine injured." The senior police officer said that police personnel were also injured in the incident. (ANI)
