Rameswaram (Tamil Nadu) [India], September 8 (ANI): The coastal areas of Tamil Nadu including Dhanushkodi, Mukundarayar Chatram, and Arichal Munai located at the southern tip of the Rameswaram island in Ramanathapuram district have been witnessing an increase in wind speed and rough seas for the past four days. 

The region is experiencing a severe sandstorm and strong gales are blowing in the Arichal Munai region.

The sandstorm has impacted the normal life of citizens and traders. 

"Due to the closure of Sandalkuvindu Road, people travelling to Dhanushkodi and Arichal Munai area by two-wheelers and vehicles including auto rickshaws are facing the wrath of the sand storm," a trader said.

Traders, who rely on tourists for business, are facing financial losses as their normal life has been thrown out of gear. They are also facing problems in protecting their goods from being damaged in the storm. (ANI)
