Odisha: DRDO Successfully Test Fires LR-SAM
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Thursday successfully test-fired the Long Range Surface to Air Missile (LR-SAM) from naval warship INS Chennai off the coast of Odisha.
Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], Jan 24 (ANI): The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully test-fired the Long Range Surface to Air Missile (LR-SAM) from naval warship INS Chennai off the coast of Odisha.India achieved the milestone on January 18 when DRDO successfully carried out test of the indigenously Next Generation Anti Radiation Missile (NGARM) which can hit enemy radars at 100 kilometres.The missile tested off the Odisha Coast was fired from a Sukhoi-30 combat aircraft and can destroy surveillance stations of the enemy.“India achieves a significant milestone with successful flight test of LRSAM on board INS Chennai. The missile directly hit a low flying aerial target. Nirmala Sitharaman congratulates DRDO, Indian Navy, the industry and other stakeholders for this landmark achievement,” read a post on the official Twitter handle of Office of Defence Minister.This comes a month after Nuclear strategic ballistic missile Agni-IV was successfully test fired off Odisha coast.The test fire took place from launchpad number 4 of integrated test range at APJ Abdul Kalam Island off Odisha coast on December 23.
