Ramesh Bhatkar Passes Away at 70, After Battling Cancer

Bhatkar acted in over 90 films and 50 stage plays in a career spanning over three decades!

Vetran Marathi actor Ramesh Bhatkar passed away today after battling cancer. He was 70 year old.  Bhatkar was suffering from cancer for quite a long time. He was diagnosed with lung cancer for which he was undegoing a treatment and would often shuttle between Mumbai and Pune. Ironically, Bhatkar breathed his last today on World Cancer Day he breathed his last in a renowned hospital in Mumbai. Of his nearly 90 films, most are in Marathi, with a few in the Hindi language.

Film and stage actor is known for his roles in the TV series Commander(1992), Damini (1990) and Hello Inspector (2002). After working for more than three long decades in the Marathi and Hindi industry Bhatkar won many awards and praise. He bagged much accolades and critical appreciation  for his role in Ashroonchi Zaali Phule  which was released 1975.

Ramesh played lead roles in theaters such as The Boss- Sutradhar, Kinara.   Ooghadale Swargache Daar, Denaryaache Haath Hazaar, Shadyantra (1991), Kevha Tari Pahate, Akher Tu Yeshilach, Rahu Ketu, to name a few.
