A 30-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his in-laws in the Ashiana area of Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow. The victim, identified as Vishnu Yadav, a resident of Pratapgarh, was reportedly lured to his wife’s parental home under the pretext of a meeting before being fatally assaulted.
Lucknow, March 21: A 30-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his in-laws in the Ashiana area of Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow. The victim, identified as Vishnu Yadav, a resident of Pratapgarh, was reportedly lured to his wife’s parental home under the pretext of a meeting before being fatally assaulted. Police officials stated that the attack was the result of long-standing resentment regarding the couple's marriage, which took place four years ago against the family's wishes.
In a particularly harrowing detail of the investigation, the victim’s wife, Sakshi Singh, was allegedly restrained by her own family members during the attack. Investigators found that Sakshi’s hands and feet had been tied and her mouth gagged to prevent her from intervening or raising an alarm. She was then locked in a room and forced to witness the brutal assault on her husband through a gap in the door or window. According to the police FIR, the couple had been living in Pratapgarh but had traveled to Lucknow recently. Upon arrival at the residence of Sakshi’s parents, Tirthraj Singh and Saroj Devi, the atmosphere quickly turned violent.
The accused allegedly overpowered Sakshi first to isolate Vishnu. Once she was incapacitated, her parents and four sisters, Radha, Ratna, Jyoti, and Vidhi—reportedly used wooden planks and iron rods to strike Vishnu repeatedly. Emergency teams responding to a neighbour's call found Vishnu lying in a pool of blood, while Sakshi was discovered injured and still bound. The medical examination has highlighted the severity of the violence. The post-mortem report recorded 20 antemortem injuries, with 16 of those concentrated on Vishnu’s head.
The report confirmed that the 30-year-old suffered multiple skull fractures, severe internal bleeding, and trauma to the face and neck. Doctors determined the cause of death to be shock and excessive hemorrhaging resulting from repeated blows with blunt objects. Police have since recovered the blood-stained wooden planks and iron rods used in the crime.
