Debunking the alleged claim as fake, the fact-check unit of PIB said that the Bhagalpur police clarified in an official statement that no person was taken into custody. PIB also shared a link to the statement issued by the Bhagalpur police. In its post, Bhagalpur police said that the news published on page number nine of the Hindustan daily newspaper with the title, "Youth showed a banner during the meeting, taken into custody," is factually incorrect.

They further said that neither the youth was arrested nor a case was registered against him.
