Pakistan vs South Africa Highlights And Cricket Score 2nd Match - ODI Commentary

End of Over : 45.5 PAK: 203/10

203 is the target now and South Africa are big time favorites to chase this down. Can it be defended? Pakistan will have to bowl out of their skins. Will they take a 2-0 lead or will the series be levelled? Join us in a while to find out.

That is when the fightback started though. Hasan Ali, along with his skipper, added a 90-run stand which provided some respectability to the score. The skipper was happy to knock it around and take the singles, whereas the pacer tonked the ball to all parts of the ground. He got his second ODI fifty up but two wickets in one over from Andile, who finished with career-best figures, ended the Pakistan innings.

The South African bowlers were on song right from the start. It was Rabada who got two in the first 10. Then, Olivier and Phehlukwayo joined the party. Shadab and Malik did try and steady the ship but Shamsi then got the better of the leg spinner. Talat and Malik were dismissed soon and at that point 150 looked farfetched.

End of a very, very good bowling performance by South Africa. They have justified their skipper's decision of bowling first, however, they would not be happy with the fact that the visitors crossed the 200-run mark, especially after they were reeling at 112/8.

Tabraiz Shamsi to Shoaib Malik. Edged and FOUR! Maybe Faf should have kept the slip in place. Shamsi bowls the wrong one and lands it around off, draws Malik forward to tries to defend and the ball takes the edge. Goes through the vacant slip position and away to the third man fence.

14.1 W

Duanne Olivier to Fakhar Zaman. OUT! Another short ball gets the better of a Pakistan batsman. This one though is a snorter. We saw Olivier doing this a several times in the Test match and he has done it here too. It is banged in halfway down the pitch, keeps rising on the batsman. A serious effort ball as this one really zipped off this surface which is relatively quite slow. Zaman tries to fend at it but the ball hits the higher portion of the bat and lobs towards point. Miller runs in and takes an easy catch. Pakistan are four down even before the 15th over is completed.

8.6 W

Kagiso Rabada to Babar Azam. OUT! Rabada strikes again! Once again it is the short ball which does the trick for him. Gets the better of Pakistan's best ODI batsman for not a lot. Rabada bangs it short and outside off, it is the scrambled seam delivery. It comes slow off the surface. Azam is a touch early into the pull shot. Also, his bat seems to have shaken when it makes contact with the ball. It ends up going high in the air towards deep square leg. Phehlukwayo there runs in and takes a good catch. Babar Azam is the new man in.

4.5 W

Kagiso Rabada to Imam-ul-Haq. OUT! In the air... taken! Imam has been bounced out! Early strike for South Africa and the guy who played so well in the last game does not contribute a lot in this one. He may not have been expecting a short one as Rabada has already bowled one for the over. Hence, his weight was on the front foot. Rabada though still bowls one, a quick one. It bounces just at the right height. Imam fails to transfer his weight onto the back foot but still goes ahead with the pull. All he manages is a top edge which balloons towards Andile at short mid-wicket. Ideal start for the hosts.

4.4 0

Kagiso Rabada to Imam-ul-Haq. Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.

4.2 0

0.2 0

Kagiso Rabada to Imam-ul-Haq. Better from Imam. He though might have left this one due to the length. It is slightly short and outside off.

0.1 0

Kagiso Rabada to Imam-ul-Haq. A play and a miss! This is bowled full and wide outside off, Imam goes after it away from his body but gets beaten. Too early to play an expansive drive.

We are all set for the action to begin. Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq are the openers. Kagiso Rabada has the first new ball in hand. Here we go...

Team news - Both the teams have a couple of changes. The hosts have brought in Paterson and Shamsi for Tahir and Pretorius. Pakistan have got in Talat and Afridi for Khan and Wasim.

Toss - South Africa won the toss and elected to field.

After upsetting the odds in the first ODI, Pakistan will look to carry forward the momentum and look to take a 2-0 lead in the series. South Africa on the other hand, will be eager to bounce back and level the series here. Despite the loss, they are favourites to do so. Let us hope we are in for a cracking contest. Welcome to the coverage.

End of Over : 42.0 SA: 207/5

So that is it from this game. The South Africans have bounced back and levelled the series. There are still another 3 games to play with the next one taking place on the 25th of January 0100 local (1100 GMT). Till then, take care and goodbye.

South African skipper, Faf du Plessis, says it was the perfect opportunity for two youngsters to learn a lot and they rose to the occasion. Mentions the wicket was not the best as it was two paced. Credits the way Hasan Ali played. Also appreciates how Phehlukwayo and van der Dusen played. Reckons he has all the skills to be a top level player and that is exactly what they are looking for. He hopes for a pacey wicket in the next game. Further adds Dale who was rested in the next game might be back.

Man of the Match, Andile Phehlukwayo, says the wicket had something in it and he tried to hit the right lines and lengths. Mentions he was nervous to begin with when he came out to bat but Rassie calmed him down. Further adds he then stuck to his plans and it all came out well. Ends by saying he enjoyed the battle with Shadab.

Pakistan skipper, Sarfraz Ahmed, says they did not get a good start as they gave away too many soft wickets. Mentions Hasan Ali's knock gave them some hope. Admits they had a chance when South Africa were 80 for 5 but they failed to capitalize. Credits the way Phehlukwayo and van der Dussen played.

Some things to work on, while some to be excited about for the hosts. Their bowling did well on the whole, with Phehlukwayo and Shamsi leading the charge, but they would have been disappointed having let Pakistan get even remotely close to 200, as they were 112/8 at one stage. Most of the batting line-up once again failed to turn up, but it seems they've found a gem in Rassie van der Dussen who can fill the big void in the South African middle order. It was a close contest, right up till the point the Protea pair took things in their stride and saw the game off with ease.

This is what happens when the bowling has assistance on a surface. This was a low-scoring affair, but every bit as entertaining as any high-chase thriller. Pakistan must have had mixed feelings throughout this one. A bittersweet feeling when they reached 203, but it could have been a lot less had it not been for Sarfraz and Hasan Ali's (who scored a brisk fifty) 90-run stand. And when they had the Proteas on the mat, 80/5 to be precise, courtesy a fiery opening spell from Afridi, they failed to capitalize as van der Dussen and Phehlukwayo took their side comfortably home. The duo added 127 runs between them, scoring fifties in the process.

41.6 4

Hussain Talat to Rassie van der Dussen. FOUR! Yes, it does! Finishes it off in style does Rassie van der Dussen. He pumps his fist in delight after he pulls this short ball to the mid-wicket fence. All smiles in the South African camp as THEY WIN BY 5 WICKETS AND LEVEL THE SERIES 1-1!

Powerplay 3 has been signaled! Now five players can be placed outside the ring till the 50th over. However, we do not think the game will last till then. Also, Shadab comes back into the attack.
