Ruturaj Gaikwad (63 off 44) kept the chase alive till the end but despite the efforts of MS Dhoni (16 off 11) and Ravindra Jadeja (32* off 22), Chennai Super Kings fell short of the finish line. Wanindu Hasaranga (4/35) was the pick of the Rajasthan Royals bowlers as he kept taking wickets through the middle overs. He received good support from Jofra Archer (1/13) who bowled a daunting spell upfront with the new ball. This was Rajasthan Royals's first win of the season and second consecutive defeat for Chennai Super Kings.
